Downtown Lapeer is full of interesting history. First settled by Alvin Hart and platted in 1833, Hart saw the potential that Lapeer had and in our historic downtown he constructed a beautiful courthouse, which is still standing. He pioneered our family friendly community, and created the very foundation of what Lapeer is today. Here in downtown Lapeer, we are proud of where we live and we encourage visitors to come explore all that we have to offer.
