Why Buy Local?
Buying locally grown food is good for consumers, growers and the economy!
Reap the benefits of locally grown. When the produce is locally grown and hasn’t had to travel hundreds of miles before it gets to the customers plates, it retains all its nutritious benefits.
Locally grown foods are usually picked within 24 hours of sale-often the morning of market. The Lapeer Farmers’ Market not only offers the best available fruits and vegetables to our community, but we are able to offer locally raised beef, lamb, chicken and buffalo meat. You will also find free-range eggs, local honey & maple syrup, beautiful plants and wonderful handmade items.
Lapeer Farmers’ Market is proud to be a charter member of “MIFMA” Michigan Farmers’ Market Association. It has been very beneficial to us by providing training and workshops that allow us to grow and improve our farmers market. Across the nation, people are realizing how important it is to know who is growing their food.
Again, we are very happy to be able to make it easier for our customers to shop for local food at
the market. We will again be accepting the “Michigan Bridge Card” (Food Stamp Card), Debit & Credit at the market. Just come to the Market Information Booth where you can purchase wooden tokens with your Bridge Card, Debit or Credit cards and shop with any of the vendors at the market. Our vendors also accept Project Fresh coupons. We want to make all of the wonderful items at the market accessible to everyone.
Each year we look for new ways to educate our local community on the benefits of buying their food locally, while also providing an outlet for our local farmers to sell their products. I am proud to be the market master for the Lapeer Farmers’ Market and look forward to each year. Connecting our local community with our local farmers is our goal.
Sincerely,
Denise Becker/Lapeer Farmers’ Market Master
